Kathy A. Kennedy is an
associate practicing general civil litigation. Prior to
practicing law, Ms. Kennedy worked as a paralegal for an admiralty
firm in New York City. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and
law degree while attending school part-time at night. Ms.
Kennedy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from
Ramapo College in 1994. Ms. Kennedy earned her law degree from
Seton Hall University School of Law in 1999. She was admitted
to the New Jersey State Bar and the U. S. District Court for the
District of New Jersey in 1999.
At Florio & Kenny, she defends public entities
against claims under the New Jersey Tort Claims Act, the Federal
Civil Rights Act, the Conscientious Employees Protection Act and the
New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. Ms. Kennedy also has
extensive experience in defending personal injury, automobile
negligence, premises liability and general liability claims.
Before
joining Florio & Kenny, Ms. Kennedy specialized in insurance defense
litigation primarily representing insurance companies under
automobile, homeowners and commercial general liability policies
involving premises liability, product liability and general tort
matters. She has tried cases in New Jersey Superior Court and
has handled several appellate matters. She is a member of the
New Jersey State Bar Association and Essex County Bar Association.
